Yaima Ortiz

Olympic Medalist|Program Leader, Sports Mentorship

Yaima Ortiz is an Olympic bronze medalist (Athens 2004) and two-time Olympian who represented Cuba's national volleyball team, the legendary “Morenas del Caribe.” Over the course of an elite international career, she competed at the highest professional level in Russia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey — building the discipline, resilience, and team-first mindset that she now dedicates to the next generation.

As the leader of the sports mentorship program at MultiCare Community Services Inc, a nonprofit organization based in Doral, Florida, Yaima uses sport as a tool for transformation. Her program teaches young people the values that shaped her own journey — discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, and perseverance — while giving them access to quality coaching and a real, lived model of personal achievement.

The mission is simple and far-reaching: the more young people the program can reach, the greater its impact. By opening the doors of sport to youth across the community — especially those with limited access and resources — the program helps them grow physically, emotionally, and socially, equipping them with clear goals and the tools to achieve them, on and off the court.

Through MultiCare Community Services Inc, Yaima Ortiz is committed to ensuring that every young person who steps onto the court leaves with more than athletic skill — they leave with character, confidence, and a path forward.
